  I showed up 15 minutes late to my appointment and explained that I have a 1 month old that needed a diaper change. I was told I could not be seen and they refused to ask the doctor if she could make an exception. The staff didn't tell me about their strict policy when I scheduled the appt.

  I have had nothing but excellent service with this office. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Both of my children are seen on a regular basis for their skin and we have seen much improvement. Dr. Grace is generous with her time and communicates well with my teens. We are always seen on time and always leave happy.. I Refer them to everyone I know.

  I was recommended Dr. Grace Liu from former colleagues of mine and I needed to get a skin check-up & new dermatologist. She introduced herself and right from the start I didn't feel she was very warm (like my colleagues had originally told me, "you will LOVE her, she is amazing!"). She had me take off everything except for underwear/bra to check out my moles and right away she started criticizing me and decided to assume that I don't wear sunscreen, don't take care of my skin, etc. She talked to me VERY condescendingly, like I was some dumb young girl who had never been the dermatologist. I had a VERY good dermatologist back east before I moved to CA and I have always taken good care of my skin. She just kept negatively stating comments about my skin tone/color, for ex. "Do you SEE the difference between the color of your bum and your leg?!" Again condenscending remark. She said I was "too dark." When in fact, I have a great percentage of American Indian in me and it was summertime so I was pretty dark, and I tan very easily. I put on SPF 15 & 30 on my face/body, but she just kept saying how i was too dark and I needed to take care of my skin better. I felt automatically annoyed because the way she talked to me and handled that whole conversation about my so-called "too tanned" skin. Also, stating my face "had so many sun spots" (or freckles, I have ALWAYS had) and how she said, "by the time you turn 30, you are going to need to laser these off your face." By the end of the appointment, feeling very frustrated by how this doctor was talking to me, she finally stated that I needed to get some of my mole on my ankle removed to have it checked out. Mind you, I told her this mole has been the same shape/size/color for as long as I can remember. I asked her, "is this normally covered by health insurance?" I wanted to take all precautions and get it checked out, but didn't want a huge bill slapped on me. So, she says, "well you have health insurance, don't you!?" So, I got it done, only later to have had to argue with my health insurance about getting that covered. Ugh....all in all it was a horrible experience. I was treated badly and I haven't gone back to this doctor since. When picking a dermatologist, you need to be treated well, you are in fact a patient and need to feel comfortable. I don't appreciate anyone talking to me like that, much less a doctor. I hope no one has to go through that experience I did!!
